Synopsis
“49:1 – The Zion Story” is a moving account of one man’s quest to overcome his personal demons, regain control of his life and with the help of his new found faith, embark on the journey of a lifetime in search of the riches that lie undiscovered in the land of the Bible.
Meet John Brown. A hugely successful business man running a company with an annual turnover in the hundreds of millions of dollars. He has everything he needs; money, cars houses, he has a wife and a family and yet his life is in freefall.
He has been slowly drinking himself to death and destroying what would appear to be an idyllic life. He has visited rehab four times, nothing works and John finds himself truly at rock bottom with no apparent way back. This, for a man with an ever watchful eye on the “exit strategy”, seems to all point in one direction, total destruction.
However, in 1981, John who is now close to breaking meets a man who introduces him to Christ and what will turn out to be his ultimate salvation. At this time John Brown became born again.
By chance, John is introduced to Jim Spillman, an eminent and well- respected preacher. Jim has been working on a book exploring the possibility that by using scriptures from the Bible there is a hidden code that will reveal massive reserves of oil hidden beneath the ancient and historic earth of Israel, the Holy Land.
John is captivated by this notion and when shown the maps and how they clearly relate to the biblical scriptures he becomes smitten with the Idea of going to Israel and hunting for this elusive treasure.
In 1983, John sets off for Israel with no money and no particular idea of what he’s going to do once he gets there. Armed only with a Bible, a map and his new found and unshakeable faith he embarks on the most awe inspiring quest to follow God’s instruction and unearth the oil that it is stated lies beneath the land.
John uses what little money he does have to found Zion Oil and Gas Inc. A company which he hopes and believes will prove the world wrong and the word of God and the Bible right in making a major oil discovery in Israel.
Meet John Brown. A Born Again Christian with no money, no family and no place to live. He holds down a job as a janitor to make ends meet but he is for the first time in so many years very happy.
Using those very same maps given by Jim Spillman coupled with the scriptures given to John Brown by God and with the technical data collated by the most eminent and skilled scientists and geologists Zion Oil and Gas Inc. has drilled two oil wells in their license area in the north of Israel and all evidence points to the concept that they may not be far off unearthing that discovery of massive reserves of oil.
